Five Minute Features - Listen & Learn!
Our five minute features are part of Carers NZ's new Listen & Learn series, offering information and advice to help carers improve their health, wellbeing and caring knowledge. The series will include advice about injury prevention, exercise and nutrition, sexuality, legal and financial planning, continence, livesaving first aid tips from St John, and a special selection of meditations developed especially for carers by Anna Filliol.
These Listen & Learn five minute features complement Carers NZ's upcoming Watch & Learn series for its web-based Family Care TV Network, and helpful information for carers in its free quarterly magazine, Family Care.
ACC's five minute features have been designed to help carers look after themselves. They offer tips and hints about how to prevent the sort of injuries that are common to carers (strains, sprains, falls, etc). Topics include how to lift or transfer safely, how to make sure you get enough sleep (itself an injury prevention strategy), and how to cope better with stress. There will also be tips about useful equipment and services to make life easier for you and your family.

Anna Filliol's meditations are designed to give you a window of special time out. Make yourself comfortable, turn on the meditation, and relax. You could also download the meditations onto your MP3 player and take them with you while you're out and about (waiting at the doctor's surgery, or sitting in the garden, for example). Enjoy Anna's peaceful, soothing meditations, featuring topics chosen especially for carers. You deserve it!
